Paper 1: When biodiversity supports biodiversity by modulating climate

Contact person: Remy Beugnon
Related BN topic: Limits of tree and forest resilience; Future soils; Open Lands

Link to the document

Abstract/Idea

Idea: Thinking on how vegetation diversity; by modulating microclimatic conditions and increasing heterogeneous (spatial and temporal) climatic conditions; would support a higher niche space for understory communities and seedlings. Therefore, vegetation diversity should reinforce biodiversity over time.

Paper 2: Link between above ground and below ground biodiversity

Contact person: Hannes Feilhauer, Pedro J. Leitão, Nico Eisenhauer, Carlos Guerra, Leonore Jungandreas
Related BN topic: Future Soil; Open Lands

Link to the document

Abstract/Idea

Idea: Analysis of above and below-ground biodiversity using sPlot method, focus on grassland and forests

Paper 3: Modeling aerosol loading over the amazon using ATTO data

Contact person: Mira Pöhlker, Christopher Pöhlker, Bruna Holanda, Luiz Machado, Leonore Jungandreas
Related BN topic: Future Rapid change; Forest resilience

Link to the document

Abstract/Idea

Idea: Simulating increased Aerosol loading with ICON-ESM (or ECHAM only) from Amazon Biomass burning using ATTO measurements; investigate the impact on clouds and precipitation

Paper 4: Opinion Paper on Science communication

Contact person: Immo Fritsche, Nancy Retzlaff, Karsten Haustein, Nina Kolleck, Leonore Jungandreas
Related BN topic: Agency of collectives; Science communication; Outreach

Link to the document

Abstract/Idea

Idea: Finding the right balance between rational and emotional messaging and knowing how, to whom, and where to communicate what, environmental action as personal vs. collective decision oder decision vs. automatic behavior

Paper 5: Biodiversity and Integrated Assessment Model

Contact person: Nancy Retzlaff, BioDiv Expertise needed!
Related BN topic: Modelling Connectivity; Future X?

Link to the document

Abstract/Idea

Idea: Creating a comprehensive (yes I know… hurts a lot already but already in the making) overview on literature on biodiv and IAM and pointing out necessary and feasible ways to move forward
